The Friends of the New Carlisle Public Library meets the 1st Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. at the library. The Friends of the New Carlisle Library is a group of library lovers from the community who come together to support the New Carlisle Library. The Friends formed in 2000 to engage library patrons, the community, and organizations interested in books in programs and services that support the library and encourage literacy.

Membership is open to anyone who loves the New Carlisle Public Library. There are individual, family and business annual membership rates. The Friends of the Library accepts monetary donations throughout the year, along with donations of books and raffle items for the biannual book sales. The Friends of the New Carlisle Library provides funds to support numerous programs for library patrons of all ages. The Friends raises money through membership dues, book bag sales, semi-annual book sales, and donations. Book sales are put together twice a year in the fall and spring for three days! There is usually a raffle and book bags are on sale. Members of the Friends of New Carlisle Library receive a discount at the sale.
